Default Password field characters are invisible on logon page (Internet Explorer IE)

    Hi everyone.

A customer has pointed out to me after having some logon difficulties that on the logon page of my site, they could not see any characters in the password field. (The data was in there, just completely invisible - no bullets, just "whitespace"

After trying on a couple of machines I found

    WinXP - IE8 - password field invisible
Win7 - IE8 - password field bullets viewable, look squashed, too close together and overlap
Win7 - chrome - looks absolutely fine , password bullets display correctly
Gingerbread Android Browser - all fine password bullets display correctly

Feel free to try it on my test site.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to cure this, my IE troubleshooting skills are limited as I dont use it too much.

    Thanks for any help

    Andy

It works as designed ... passwords are hidden when you login so the guy looking over your shoulder or with the binoculars from across the room cannot see the password being typed ...

It does as you describe here in IE8 on XP. The problem seems to be the font you've specified - possibly not included in XP, so the bullets don't appear. When I remove the "Muli" in IE Web Developer it works as it should.

    400 13px "Muli", Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif

ajeh - I think I have not made myself clear - the bullets in the password field are invisible (so it looks like user hasnt typed anything)

Stevesh - thanks for looking, the muli is a google web font so should be downloaded regardless of browser. I wonder if XP has some issue with this. I might specify a different font for the password field in my CSS to get around this and see how I go.

    Thanks for the help.
