Problem connecting to Database

Hello,
I just went to my site and was redirected to an error page: /nddbc.html with the following error message:

"Sorry! There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank You."

I've been refreshing for a while now and no change. Any thoughts on what this could be? Everything was working this morning without issues and nothing has changed since.

Obviously something has changed, or you would still be able to access your site .
Did you check your configure files is something has been altered, or is the database is still there?

Thanks for the reply... That is the strange thing, I definitely have not changed anything and haven't even logged in to my admin today or server. (and no one else has access to it but me).

In any case, I just checked the config file (includes/config...) and there doesn't seem to be any changes (the last modify date on the file was in 2011.

As far as the database file... where would i find that to see if it's still there?

you can use phpadmin, our your hosts admin panel to see if there is still a database present.

GD are well known for being troublesome, put the kettle on and have another look later...it may be back up again, if not then it'll be time to delve deeper.

Yeah, I have issues with them before. If I call them to try to trouble shoot... any suggestions on what may have changed on their end that would cause this?

When I logged into the Cpanel on GD it says the DNS manager is temporarily unavailable and they have a message stating that "the new DNS manager is now Live". Is this something that could be causing the issue I'm having? (sorry if it's a silly question and completely unrelated... my knowledge here is fairly limited).

Yes I would be quite sure that's your issue, have a beer and check back once DNS has propagated.

and it's back! Down long enough to mack me panic but not long enough for me to enjoy that beer...

It was a GD issue. Apparantly they were hacked today (see link below).

Glad you're back in the game
