I recently have these same double trailing slash in the url and cleared the extra slashes in admin includes / configuration.php as well as the other configure.php. any ideas what could cause the extra ones? Mine is after the domain name, [url]www.discount-buys.com//

It looks OK to me, which suggests you've either fixed it since this post, or perhaps you fixed it when you cleared the extra slashes but you are still seing them due to the page(s) being cached somewhere.
