    Default Customer doesn't want to receive ANY emails

    I have a customer who just signed up for an account. She objected to getting the standard "welcome" message, and is now demanding that she get NO emails at all from my store. Is there a way to do this? I only send the welcome message and the standard messages when a customer places an order (confirmation of the order and confirmation that the order has shipped.)

    I don't consider these messages spam but evidently she does, as when I responded to her demand I got this reply from her:

    This email is sent in accordance with the US CAN-SPAM Law in effect
    01/01/2004. Removal requests can be sent to this address and will be honored
    and respected

    Any suggestions? I'm probably just going to delete her account but want to make sure I am not violating any laws here...

    Change her email address to yours or some account you set up for the purpose. She won't be able to log in anymore, but you don't need this kind of business anyway.

    can you go in through admin to her account and just change the email address? Of course that means she won't be able to log in, so that is the same as deleting the account, so maybe it's just easier to delete the account. It doesn't sound like she'll be back anyways. Of course if she does try to come back and you've deleted her account you'd have to respond to her "where's my account" complaint via email.

    will most likely do that or just delete her account (can't figure out WHY she signed up for one in the first place!) but still interested in knowing if there's a way to accomplish her request.

    Is it mandatory on your site (default) or have you installed a COWOA add-on module?

    I'm hoping I can avoid deleting the account (although she already sounds like more trouble than she's worth). I also want to make sure that I'm not "spamming" her.

    There's no way i know of to turn off emails by customer without writing code, and no mod that will do that.

    It is mandatory that customers sign up for an account before they can place an order, the default.

    If it was me then I'd just delete her account and then install the check-out-without-account module so that in the future the only customers you collect data from are the ones that specifically opt in.
