Any way to show/hide payment modules dynamically based on order total?

Looking through the various payment modules pricing/fees, I was wondering if there is a way to show/hide and/or rearrange the display order of payment modules based on the order total during checkout?


For instance, Amazon Payments charges 5% + transaction fee on orders less than $10 and Dwolla Payments are free for orders LESS than $10, so the possibility of hiding Amazon and putting Dwolla as 'preferred' would be ideal in some situations. Or if the order total is > $500, enable Bank Transfer or USPS Money Order module.

Ultimately the customer will choose the payment method they want/feel comfortable with, but I can think of a few scenarios where I want to direct them to the better (of several) payment modules.

Not sure if thats 'allowed' or even possible.

Anyone done anything like that?
