you can create amounts in increments as attributes with radio buttons or a dropdown and making the first display only and titles "Please Choose" then $5, $10, $15....or $10, $20...

At the risk of boo'd off stage, if you give people a choice of paying something or paying nothing, only 1 person in a 1000 will opt to pay (and I think even that is a generous estimate).
People will value your item a lot more if you start at $1.00 :)
