    Default Email no longer replys to senders address

    I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden the reply to for any customer inquiry is my address, so, not thinking of it, I go to reply to the email, I end up sending it to myself! I'm sure this is in a configuration file somewhere, just not sure where to start looking. Any ideas?

    never came across this problem,
    the setting for email is at: configuration- email option
    did you change any code?
    or did you try to reply the order email?

    Would this be "Email Address (Sent FROM)"? If I clear that out will the customer's address be automatically assumed?

    How are you reading your emails? Are they being forwarded from your store to an offsite email account?

    The email is sent to an external email account.

    Would this be "Email Address (Sent FROM)"? If I clear that out will the customer's address be automatically assumed? no

    After looking at the full header info, the return-path is set as my address, despite, the customers name and address being in the To: field. I have to either manually type in the address, or click on the email address link in the body of the message to actually reply to the customer properly. Any suggestions as to where to look would be greatly appreciated.

    A few possibilities:
    1. Your hosting company's email engine is rewriting the ReplyTo header based on its own security rules.
    2. You're looking at these emails on an iOS6 device which has been reported to not honor the ReplyTo header and uses the sender's email address only.
    3. Your store's email setting for "Emails must send from known domain" is turned on (by default) and perhaps your specific hosting server doesn't like that.
    4. Your store's email setting for Email Transport Method is set to PHP and thus your emails are being sent anonymously, which many emailservers see as high-risk-of-spam, so it's translating the headers (see #1 above). Always better to authenticate your emails, so use SMTPAUTH and fill in all the SMTP settings.

    SMTPAUTH was the fix, or at least in my limited testing it seems to work, although the return path is listed as the same. This was happening on multple platforms, so iOS6 was not the issue. Must send from known domain was indeed turned on, but I haven't changed that.
