subcategory message

I am using version 2.0 and am just beginning to set up shoppe. As soon as I create a category, I am getting this message;

NOTE: Category has SubCategories,
Products cannot be added
So how am I supposed to even begin to set up shoppe? If I am just being dense, I appologize. :) I am accustomed to using zencart, but on someone else's site, this is my first set up and my first site. Thank you.

A category can contain products, or it can contain sub-categories, but no category can contain both products and sub-categories. So in this case, since your category has sub-cats in it, you have to add your products to one or more of those sub-cats.
