Wasn't getting cart emails for awhile. Can I see what was missed?

We have recently had some problems with the cart not sending emails.
I have since fixed the issue and we are not receiving the test messages but I was wondering if there is any place where I can check to see what mail we may have missed while this problem was going on.
Is there a file or anything that emails are saved in?

1. You said you're using v1.3.8a. If that's true, then you REALLY need to upgrade your site ASAP to protect yourself from the security vulnerabilities that were in that version (it was released in 2006/2007).

2. If your store had Email Archiving turned on (Admin->Configuration->Email Options), then you can use the Email Archive Manager plugin to view those emails.
But if you had that archiving setting set to false, then there is no history kept.
