Ceon Custom Order Surcharge/Discount

Hi,

It gives me great pleasure to release a new payment module for Zen Cart.


Module Overview

This software will enable you to set up a custom payment method, with a surcharge or a discount applied based on the Order Value, Billing Country and/or Currency being used, in no time.

A Surcharge/Discount is entered, either as a single flat rate or a table of rates. Titles and descriptions can be entered as well, creating a custom payment module.

For example, a payment method, "Pay By Phone", which charges a flat rate of $1.00 to use it, can easily be set up just by entering 1.00 in the table of rates and "Pay By Phone" in the table of titles - Easy! :)


Module Features

Surcharge/Discount

• In collaboration with another of our modules, the Ceon Payment Surcharges/Discounts Order Total module:
  
  • An individual surcharge or discount rate can be specified which applies to all Order Values, or
  • A full range of surcharge/discount rates can be specified, so that differing Order Value ranges result in a differing surcharge/discount rate being applied!
  
  
• The rate can even differ according to the Country the billing address is in and/or the Currency being used!
• This all means that store owners can pass the cost of offering this custom payment method onto their customers, or offer their customers a discount for using this custom payment method.
• The Ceon Payment Surcharges/Discounts module can be downloaded for free from the Ceon website and is simple to use/integrate with stores!

Custom Title and Description

• Each discount/surcharge rate can have its own Title and Description specified, allowing the store to tell the customer as much or as little as they want about the payment method.
• 
  
  • The Title is displayed on the checkout payment page as the payment module's title, and is also used as the text of the Order Totals line.
  • A Description can also be specified, in which case it will be displayed below the title of the payment module on the checkout payment page.
  • A placement tag ({surcharge_discount_amount}) can be used to place the amount of the surcharge/discount within the Title and/or Description, to show the customer how much it will cost (or how much of a discount they'll get) for using the payment method.
  
  

Download

The software is available for download immediately from its website. It has also been submitted to the Zen Cart downloads area and should be available there shortly.

A new contribution from Ceon is always of interest (in my view), elegantly filling the few holes in Zen Cart...but I am not sure what problem this plugin solves.

Surely it can only be applied to non-automatic payment methods such as cash in person, bank transfer, cheques-in-the-post, payment by card by phone and what else?

How did this code come to be required/written?

Maybe I'm being dim but I'd like an excuse to use it!

You've hit the nail on the head, that's exactly what it is aimed to allow.

How did this code come to be required/written?

Typical way things work.. someone wanted a charge for his customers if they "Paid By Phone". Instead of the hour or two's work it would take to hack something up I decided to create a whole new module for it so that others could benefit. And of course 10/11 hours later any reasonable financial return had been wiped out but now the Zen Cart community has a new module it can use. Even more of a niche module than some others released by Ceon but one or two may need it over time. :)

That's very good of you, it's nice that people want to use Ceon's software but I'm sorry that I have to disappoint you on this occasion. :)

You'll have more interest in Back In Stock Notifications 4.0.0 with its new Ask A Question functionality.. hopefully that'll get released this week if I can get the Ceon Product Variants integration with it finished.
