Thank you Linda.. for the CLEAR, concise clarifying post.. I made a few mods to your words because I am updating my personal Zen Cart notebook with this information. Can you confirm if my interpretation of your words is correct??
I just went back to check my setup (I did it over two years ago) to confirm how I created my downloadable products. Sure as heck, my products with multiple attributes, but only ONE attribute has a download associated to it, are ALL virtual products.. Looks like the issue that started this all was never an issue at all with Zen Cart OR this module (which apparently was NEVER installed, it was just assumed that there MIGHT be an issue with this module).. Sounds a lot to me like there was not a clear understanding on how to create downloadable products that have more than one attributes..

The general rule is when a Product has an Option Name group of Downloads, then the Product should NOT be marked as Virtual ...
It is only when the Product has multiple Option Name groups where 1 or more have Downloads and 1 or more do not have downloads that the Product SHOULD be marked as Virtual ...
This will show as a problem when the Shopping Cart contains a Product without Downloads and a Product with downloads ... to obtain the correct count for the display of the checkout_shipping or not ...
The need for the Product to be marked as Virtual is an exception to the rule that Products with Downloads are NOT Virtual due to the additional Option Name Groups as something has to identify that the Option Name group without the Download is not a shippable Attribute ...
Usually, this issue does not crop up, but there are times when it will so an adjustment has to be made, in these cases ...

That affects restrict digital downloads plugin too when a second option value is added to the product for EU manual email options.

I installed the download limiter plug-in, and it works good. However, when you try to add two items it gives an ugly message at the top of the screen saying "ERROR_MAXIMUM_DOWNLOADS" and it looks really unprofessional. I know this isn't right because I looked at the code, and it's supposed to have a custom message.
I'm using Zencart 1.5.4 a new install. Everything works perfect on the site. I see the custom message in the code, but I'm wondering why it doesn't pull the message and display it?
I had installed the limit downloads into the wrong folder. I'm sorry for sounding like an idiot and posting twice. Can these posts be deleted?
A posting can be edited for 7 (if I remember correctly) minutes before it becomes "cast in concrete". Thanks for taking the time to follow-up and indicate that your issue was corrected ... and welcome to the Zen Cart community!
