Lag time in emails

Hi,

I installed the latest version of zen-cart and I have been noticing that whether I change something to the admin, send a 'I forgot my password' or someone makes a purchase the emails I receive from the system take almost 24 hours to actually process and get sent to me. Is there anyway to change this so emails are sent out straight away?

Zen Cart just creates the emails
It is then passed to your server's email function and this passing off happens quickly
So look to your email server

Are you sure they are taking 24 hours to send, or could it be 24 hours to receive? (If you install email archive add-on you can check right away to see when an email is sent).

And where are the emails that seem to be delayed coming from and going to?
(coming from your own domain, paypal, payment processor, going to your own domain email, being forwarded to yahoo/hotmail/home ISP email etc.)
