how do i get rid of this gif?
i have searched and i cant get rid of it without disturbing the layout of the page.
can someone help me please?

i dont want to do that. ive already replaced the image behind it (the banner image) with my own image. i just want it gone completely.

For the catalog side of your site update the template to remove the logo (you are modifying a copy of the original template - not the default_template - correct?). Or you can install one of the free templates and modify the template to suit your needs.

If on the admin side of the site you can replace with a 1x1 blank pixel (or look around to find where the logo is pulled from). Using your own logo instead does look more professional - especially when printing invoices or packing slips. But that is just my opinion.
