How to force an option with 1 value? ie. compulsory

Am trying to force an Attribute with a Single Option Value on a product....

I'm trying to use the Attribute feature to define a HazMat property and charge one time charge of $25.

So i set like this.
Option Name: Hazmat with a single Option Value.
So to force the value to be selected i set as a Radio button (so it can't be unchecked) and set as default value.

This seems a little convoluted maybe, is there a better way?

Also, a problem is the text that appears above reads 'Please choose' which doesnt' make sense.

In attributes controller you will see a "legend" indicating the function of various "switches" which are indicated by little circle icons with an "x" in them. By making the attribute OPTION a REQUIRED option and the DEFAULT option, you will get the behaviour you are looking for.
