    Default Customer passwords -- can they be manually reset?

    We get so many customers who email us saying they've forgotten their password and when they try to use the built-in password reset function they either:

    1) Never receive the email with the new password;
    2) Are unable to login with the new password

    I'm really not sure what's happening, but I'm wondering if it is at least possible for an admin to reset the customer's password manually?

    There's no built-in function for that in the current version. Look through the Similar Threads below for some possible workarounds.

    If customers are not receiving the emailed password reset information... I would be worried they may also not be receiving other important emails from your store... You will probably want to double check Troubleshoot: Email Problems. You can also send the customer an email directly from the Zen Cart administrative interface under "Tools" -> "Send Email" (to check email sending from Zen Cart).

    Have you created a "customer account" for testing? Having such an account can be very useful for troubleshooting (and also for verifying logins, cart, checkout, email, password reset, etc are working).

    You may also want to see what is different between your store and the stock Zen Cart 1.3.9h installation if issues with passwords and password resets are occurring. See Troubleshoot: Diagnosing Obscure Issues.

    And to get your customer back up and running with a new password in the meantime (until you can find and fix whatever is happening)... You can always modify the customer's email address from the Zen Cart administrative interface "Customers" -> "Customers" to a different email address (or your own email address) and then use the "password forgotten" link to reset the password. Once the email is received you can change the email address back and pass along the password forgotten email (or read them the temporary password over the phone).
    The glass is not half full. The glass is not half empty. The glass is simply too big!
    Where are the Zen Cart Debug Logs? Where are the HTTP 500 / Server Error Logs?
