Cannot remove new products from home page

Hi All

I have the "show new products on home page" switch to off in Configuration (set to zero) but new porducts still show in the centre of my home page, meaning that any home page text I want to do drops to the bottom of the page.

It should not show with this setting off but still does!

Can anyone help me to find a way of switching this "feature" off??

To rule out your template, what happens if you switch to the Classic Template?

You have selected a template monster template where they take license in breaking basic functionality

Search for them here and see all the issues they cause

Switch to the classic template and see if it responds to admin settings

If so you will have to get with the template supplier to correct this

Are you able to tell me what php string to search for in the files to see where they have over rulled to admin settings??

I can't really switch to the classic theme due to the fact it's a live store.

However I am totally willing to belive what you say as I sort of suspected this myself.

You should find the code in the override directory for the template name ...

includes/templates/your_template_name/ templates/ tpl_index_default.php

I edited this file and took this section out.

All that happened was that I lost the right hand sideboxes and the bottom main_page text and the new products remained on the page!!

I am not very experienced with php code.

Can anyone help me to edit the code on the page to get rid of the new products??
