v: 1.5.1
I do not believe any modifications will affect this (you'll be able to quickly check this on a standard install)
For product type: Music
When viewing either Artist, Genre or Record Company typefilters in an index/listing (main_page=index&typefilter=artist&artists_id=1)
If the typefilter variable in the URL is removed (main_page=index&artists_id=1), the page loads, displays the correct title but displays no products ("There are no products..."). This of course was tested with filters including in stock and active productions.
As far as I can tell there are no internal links being generated with this omission, however google at least has indexed some pages like this (maybe thinking it acts like manufacturers_id).
I wonder if it might be possible to serve this as a 404?
Other alternatives could be redirecting, blocking with robots, other? But I wanted to see if this was considered a bug first (plus the way variables can be mixed around by search engines, that could be tricky).
If this is not considered a bug, my apologies. Thanks
