help question sesskey error what does this mean

Another error [11-Jun-2013 16:19:35 UTC] PHP Fatal error: 1406ata too long for column 'sesskey' at row 1 :: insert into sessions
    values ('p3ch31qe536dftrgot0qsor15uamh2ldc9gv9mip00o1lrrr5l0nem9mbs195viosvp90apmknq58d n762j6gabpfenqohklv1s2qq3', '1370968475', 'c2VjdXJpdHlUb2tlbnxzOjMyOiJhOTlmNDc2ZTE1ZjNmMzJkZTMxZGNjM2U4NjE5N2UxYSI7bGFuZ3V hZ2V8czo3OiJlbmdsaXNoIjtsYW5ndWFnZXNfaWR8czoxOiIxIjtsYW5ndWFnZXNfY29kZXxzOjI6ImV uIjtzZWxlY3RlZF9ib3h8czoxMzoiY29uZmlndXJhdGlvbiI7aHRtbF9lZGl0b3JfcHJlZmVyZW5jZV9 zdGF0dXN8czo0OiJOT05FIjs=') in sitepath//includes/classes/db/mysql/query_factory.php on line 120

Why is it generating a session key that long anyway? And how do I get that to generate correct session key length?

    C

    It's probably your PHP configuration.

    What's your server operating system?
    and your PHP version?
and your PHP setting for session.hash_function? (change it back to "1" and restart Apache/PHP)

Did you restart Apache after changing the hash value? If not, it won't take effect.

Okay, that sounds like it didn't take effect properly.
What does phpinfo() tell you about the hash setting, both for Master and Local?
