red flag Paypal Pro/Express Flow chart inconsistancies

Using V1.39h with Paypal Pro as the CC Processor.

When a customer is in the shopping cart, he/she is presented with a choice of two payment method buttons...Checkout with Visa/Mastercard or Checkout with Paypal.

    Case 1: Checkout with Visa/Mastercard.
We are directed through the following pages:
Step 1 of 3: Delivery Information
This page includes a shipping fee selection option for Store Pickup (free) or a shipping charge.(... then Continue Checkout)
Step 2 of 3: Billing Address.
AGAIN- A PAYPAL PAYMENT METHOD BUTTON! The customer has already chosen to pay by Visa/Mastercard, so why is this button on this page? This is causing confusion with some of my customers who think this is an indication that they are being FORCED to pay via a Paypal Account.
Step 3 of 3: Order Confirmation.
This page presents the customer with a total of the order including the shipping charge presented in step 1, the cost of the goods and any applicable taxes.
    Step 4:
The customer is directed to the Paypal page, which collects the credit card payment information (along with nagging the customer again to set up and use a Paypal account - very unprofessional)
Step 5: The customer is taken back to the shopping cart with a message that the order has been completed.

    Case 2: Checkout with Paypal.
Steps 1 through 3 from the above procedure are bypassed. The customer does not have an option to select the shipping fee or view/edit the Delivery Address (Step 3) for accuracy.

    Now my question(s);
Is it possible to change the location of the PAYMENT METHOD Buttons which appear in the shopping cart, to the Step 3 Order Confirmation stage AFTER all the shipping and address information has been viewed, edited and approved and the order totals have been presented?

In any case - how can I REMOVE the Paypal nag which appears on the Step 2 page. At this stage it is completely unnecessary and a nuisance at best.

Sounds like you've already changed the buttons on the Shopping Cart page, because the original/default buttons are: "Proceed with Checkout" and "PayPal Express". No mention of Visa/MC.

Your renamed "Checkout with Visa/MC" button is what's creating the confusion, because that button does NOT actually mean (ie: it's purpose is not actually: ) "I'm choosing to pay with Visa/MC". Instead, its actual purpose/meaning is "Proceed with Normal Checkout, not Express Checkout".

On the Billing page, the presentation of both PayPal and Visa/MC are requirements established by PayPal: You must present your CC choices and also PayPal, both on this page. That's so that your CC payment choice gets equal airtime, not less.

Your solution is probably simple: Turn off the EC Shortcut Button on the shopping cart page, since your demographic of customers don't understand its purpose. And rename your Checkout with Visa/MC back to "Proceed with Checkout". You can find the EC Shortcut Button setting in your Admin, inside your EC module settings.

Thanks, Dr Byte - as usual, your insight and knowledge is right on the money.
I've made the changes you suggested and the process is much clearer now. (knock on wood!)
