My store has created two orders with same order number!!!

Recently I upgraded my store from 1.3.9f to 1.5.1 The shipping module is zone pricing and payment module is ccavenue a payment gateway in India. Today I got a call from our shipping department saying that a customer is making inquiries on the phone about an order number for which our records show a different customer name and items ordered. On investigation I found that two different orders were sent out as order number 1882. The two orders have different customer names and different list of products. Money was correctly collected for both orders. I searched the forum for similar trouble and found the following http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...plicate-Orders

I will do some of the things suggested in the post but I want the community to know that it is a BIZARRE but REAL problem that we must all watch out for. I wish to give portions of both orders below as proof of trouble. Please note that first order email below was received by us and the second email was forwarded to us by the customer. I notice the time stamp format is different in the second email. In any case I have not seen anything like this in over four years of working with zen cart.

Um ... those emails are from TWO DIFFERENT stores!

So, Zen Cart did not (indeed it CAN NOT) generate two identical order numbers in the same store.


Did you perhaps leave an old store online at a different URL, and you've got customers shopping in both places at the same time? Probably time to at least put the old site in down-for-maintenance mode (Admin->Configuration->Website Maintenance)

You are right on the money DrByte. Sorry for the oversight. I had version 1.3.9f at x.org/store and built v 1.5.1 in store.x.org. We provide link to the store from x.org but those using the bookmark have been using the old store because it was still functional. Thanks for helping us see that. CONFIDENCE IN ZEN CART RESTORED.
