Hi guys, I am running a zen shop that sell adhesive and sealant products.

I would like to be able to have 2 sideboxes appear on the product pages, one to display (either text or icons) which substrates the products will bond to e.g. wood, plastic, metal, glass, etc; and a second sidebox to display properties for the product e.g. waterproof, heat resistant, overpaintable, internal/external use, etc.

Obviously this would require edits to the 'add product' page as this information would need to be added on a per product basis so fields would need to be added to the database. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this?

I realise I could do it by adding html to the product info and have it displayed under the product info but I think it would look nicer if I could do it using sideboxes instead.

Would there be groups of products sharing sets of sidebox information? If so, Product Articles from Plugins might be adaptable to do what you want. Adding fields to the products table in the database is possible, and there is a mod in plugins which is supposed to allow you to do that, but this would require fairly extensive modifications to core code affecting a good number of files. Product Articles would only minimally touch one or two core files, and maybe not even that if it is adapted to custom sidebox use.

You would install one or two instances of the Blank Sidebox mod from Plugins, add simple code to them to control what kind of pages they appear on, and add the product articles code to look up and output the info.

The actual info would be saved in HTML files in your Zen Cart folders, and triggered by HTML comments inserted in each relevant product description as described in the readme.

Could also apply as product attributes and use the dynamic filter plugin.
