Cant install Install in demo folder (page not found)

I am trying to upgrade from 1.3.9h and am following the guide found at http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...-zen-cart-site

I have uploaded the files to /demo as it suggests but when I open the demo folder or /demo/zc_install i just get my page not found.
Can anyone shed any light?

It looks like you have the new installation inside your current Zencart installation somehow. It should have been installed in (assuming you have the standard file nomenclature) public_html/demo.

Thanks Stevesh but it was in that folder, Ive tried moving it around but still get the same result....

Thing is, when I add /demo to your URL, I'm seeing the Zencart generated 404 page. If I add /demo to one of my test sites (stevesh.com/demo/demo) I get the standard (non-Zencart) 404. Maybe you have some sort of redirect set up, or your URL rewriter is messing things up ? Try turning that off temporarily.

Ok, I open /demo/zc_install/index.php in my web browser and got the following page:

Just another reason why I think the posting tips should be required

Until you or your host update the php, the install will continue to fail.

I guessed that. Maybe i should have mentioned in the post that i had also enquired about upgrading the php with the host.

Stevesh, thanks for your helpful comments, I may have the host 404 pointing to zencart and maybe that's why it wasn't giving me the error message by simply typing in /demo as it instructs in the guide. Hopefully solved....
