I have cleared cache, etc., and gone through retrieve password process. Whatever password I create, I get the message

'There was a security error when trying to login.'

Tried different browsers. How do I begin to deal with this?

Just had password change accepted in IE! Good grief. I saw posts re: the error and Chrome, all early posts. Does it still apply to Chrome in 2013?

Thanks Steve. The only grounds for doubt there are raised by Chrome, but the same problem arose with Opera 12 (not the Chrome variety). However, I have been using Chrome consistently over the past weeks to log in to zencart admin on three different sites, with no problems. Today, bang. But only with respect to one of those sites.

After bouncing around to a few different browsers and really clearing everything I go in. Think you really have to clear everything.
