% off on a whole order at checkout and buy one get one free option

Hi,

I'd like to know if it is possible to offer customers a % off their total order when they go to checkout and also offer a buy one get one free?

How would this be done?

For % off whole order, look at Group Discounts (which is built in to Zen Cart). For two for ones, look at Better Together here: http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=201

I will look into those mods. Just a couple of more questions regarding this. If I enable the group pricing, from what I have been able to understand, I have to assign customers to a specific group that I create for the discount. What if a new customer purchases products and they obviously haven't been added to the group yet, it's their first time purchasing. I want them to be able to have the discount when they go to checkout as soon as they checkout. So, do they not get the discount because they have not been placed in the group prior to purchasing? I was hoping this wasn't going to be more than a one step process. Please let me know if I have misunderstood anything.

You are correct; if you want it to be automatic you can modify your cart to add new users to a group. There are probably instructions on how to do this on the forum somewhere already; if you can't find them, open a new thread asking this question and I or someone else will give you instructions.
