I'm trying to change the title of some products but they don't seem to be taking effect at all?
Any ideas?

Where are you trying to change this???I'm trying to change the title of some products
Product name is already included in the meta by default unless you have changed this

I just want to change the meta titles of the products. To something better as at the moment it just includes the name of the product which in my case happens to be a colour. I want to change it a little to make it a little more obvious what the product is. When I change the title tag it doesn seem to take effect at all?
Currently the SE's pay less attention to the meta descriptions and place more emphasis on the actual human readable title and content
So attempting to sway this with your meta information is futile and may even cause a drop in ranking

Sorry for the long reply!
Ok so for example:
http://kitchenwarehouseltd.com/repla...gh-gloss-cream
The current title tag is:
High Gloss Cream [HIGHGCRE] Kitchen Warehouse UK LTD , Kitchen Doors, Drawers and Units
High gloss cream is just the colour of the product, HIGHCRE is the product code which is useless because it doesnt actually relate to any other products on the market, and the last part is just the tagline.
Wouldn't something like:
High gloss cream replacement kitchen doors from Kitchen Warehouse UK LTD
be better?
Better for whom? I have to say that I can't remember the last time I even looked at a page title (or URL, for that matter) when on an ecommerce site. Good site navigation is the key there.
As for SEO, it looks to me that it's all about page content these days, and not stuff like keywords and titles and URLs.
Even if its better for the one person that does happen to read the title I would still want to make the change. But being honest, This is not my site. This is my bosses site and he wants the meta tags changing. I have explained that it will not make a huge difference, if any. But he still wants "nicer looking" title tags. But I just cannot seem to get them changed
Dan

"Note: A meta tag must contain keywords and description or it is not considered complete, and will be ignored."
