New server PLUS SSL Question

First:

My current ZC is 1.3.7 and upgrading to 1.5.1. So, I upgraded my hosting to accommodate the new version. I purchased a "temporary" domain name to work with (151sacredshowers.com), whether needed or not, I do not know but I wanted a totally separate place to work.

To do the upgrade on 151sacredshowers.com, I figure I must do this:

1. Do the ZC install of 1.5.1 with those directions including creating a new DB.
2. Compare the old original version with my current old version using WinMerge for changes.
3. Make the changes to the new files to match (should only be template stuff).
4. Upload those files to the NEW host.
5. Backup the DB on the 1.3.7 site.
6. Upload this backup DB to the new server.
7. Update the Database using the ZC installer.
8. Once everything works, change the DNS of my original site, sacredshowers.com, to point at the new site.
9. Change the config files to show the sacredshowers.com name rather than 151sacredshowers.com.
10. Delete the old site/admin.

I did read this thread which is similar to what I am attempting but I don't think uploading my 1.3.7 site to the new server is what I want to do (http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...fferent-server). The hosting company already said that some scripts may not work if I do that. I suppose it might not matter if I am installing 1.3.7 and then upgrading to 1.5.1 before going live.

-Alternately-
1. Upload the 1.3.7 files with change config files to the 151sacredshowers.com.
2. Upload the database from 1.3.7 version.
3. Do upgrade per upgrade instructions.

Second:

About an SSL. Can I opt out of having an SSL if I use only PayPal Express checkout module? Or, do I need an SSL certificate regardless for the ZC_Installer info?

Finished installing 1.5.1 on the new server.

The 1.3.7 DB will not upload. Error 1044 "Message: Access denied for user '%s'@'%s' to database '%s'"

Happened three times, each time at a different point. The third time nothing uploaded.

1. Should I continue to attempt to upload to the same DB?

2. If yes, suggestions as to what the issue might be. Without the DB, I have a naked website. a lot of work went down since I installed in 2007. :)

At what point in the process are you receiving this message? When I bring up your 151 site, I see the classic template with no products.

Most recently, the error happened almost immediately, and using a new backup copy (thinking perhaps the other copy had an issue). Yes, the 1.5.1. version installed.

I read the above article noted by Stevesh, checked the SQL backup file for the "create database" statement to remove it -- there is no statement, at least I did not find it if there is one. I used the "Backup Database" option to create the backup, not the My PHPAdmin.

I am wondering if the file permissions need to be set to something. My error code was generic, not specific like one in this thread [

Are you using phpmyadmin to upload your database?

Yes, I am using phpmyAdmin to upload. First time it uploaded like 9 records before the 1044 error msg. I attempted to upload DB before installing 1.5.1. When the DB failed, 3 times, I deleted the DB. I set up a new one, then installed 1.5.1. Now attempting upload the DB again.

I hesitate to continue to attempt to upload the DB without identifying the problem as the only way I know to clear the DB is to delete it. Now it is setup with the 1.5.1 install. If there is an easy way to remove whatever uploads, assuming something will upload and the problem continues, then I will keep trying and see if I can get more info with the error, such as if something uploads.

I can attempt to upload the DB to a secondary test database to see if the problem is still occurring, and possibly get more error info if that would help.

DB error while uploading 1.3.7 database to the 1.5.1 database -- for the SECOND TIME:

Suggestions? I have no idea about the first part; I assume the second part is where MySQL drops the connection due to the error.

I have made at least three different backups, and attempted to upload each one. This current DB has given me that error twice now.
