First:
My current ZC is 1.3.7 and upgrading to 1.5.1. So, I upgraded my hosting to accommodate the new version. I purchased a "temporary" domain name to work with (151sacredshowers.com), whether needed or not, I do not know but I wanted a totally separate place to work.
To do the upgrade on 151sacredshowers.com, I figure I must do this:
1. Do the ZC install of 1.5.1 with those directions including creating a new DB.
2. Compare the old original version with my current old version using WinMerge for changes.
3. Make the changes to the new files to match (should only be template stuff).
4. Upload those files to the NEW host.
5. Backup the DB on the 1.3.7 site.
6. Upload this backup DB to the new server.
7. Update the Database using the ZC installer.
8. Once everything works, change the DNS of my original site, sacredshowers.com, to point at the new site.
9. Change the config files to show the sacredshowers.com name rather than 151sacredshowers.com.
10. Delete the old site/admin.
I did read this thread which is similar to what I am attempting but I don't think uploading my 1.3.7 site to the new server is what I want to do (http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...fferent-server). The hosting company already said that some scripts may not work if I do that. I suppose it might not matter if I am installing 1.3.7 and then upgrading to 1.5.1 before going live.
-Alternately-
1. Upload the 1.3.7 files with change config files to the 151sacredshowers.com.
2. Upload the database from 1.3.7 version.
3. Do upgrade per upgrade instructions.
Second:
About an SSL. Can I opt out of having an SSL if I use only PayPal Express checkout module? Or, do I need an SSL certificate regardless for the ZC_Installer info?
