Default Zen image preparation 3 (small, medium, large) images folder?

    Hi.
How can I assign 3 (small, medium, large images for product according to below guide?
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...aration-how-to

Where can I specify medium and large images folder path? "Config>>Images" only allows me specify "Suffix" not folder path.
    Thanks.

You don't separately specify the paths for medium and large images. Once you set the base (small) image path, medium and large follow in the way described in the tutorial.
create 3 sets of images – small, medium and large, compressed and saved at the dimensions you wish to display them and then uploaded to the images, images/medium and images/large directories.
The medium and large images need to use the same filename as the small image with (exactly) _MED or _LRG added to the end, again, as described.

I haven't used 3 sizes of photos in years. What a bother.

I upload the Large photo to my sub-directory within images. I specify image display sizes in my admin>configuration>images section, and move happily on my way to the next project.

With the advent of ubiquitous broadband internet, the need for these resized and compressed images is minimal. Who uses dialup these days?

Try it and see if you like it.

Oh - and for multiple images for the same item, like front, back, side, details, etc, I add the suffix _01, _02, _03, etc. to the main image file name, and load them into the same subdirectory as the main photo.

    It would be like this.

Main image is something.jpg, loaded into the directory /images/somenamehere/
The other images would be like something_01.jpg, something_02.jpg, and so on, all loaded into /images/somenamehere/

    Keep it easy on yourself.

Make it REALLY easy on yourself and just install Image Handler which does all this work for you.. All you need to do is upload your largeest product and or category image and Image Handler will generate all the optimized images in the right sizes based on your config -> images settings.. Image Handler also takes care to name additional images properly so that Zen Cart recognizes them as additional images.. In other words Zen Cart works with default Zen Cart image management while adding the additional benefit of optimizing your images.

Perhaps no one uses dial up these days, but that's no reason to NOT optimize your site images to help improve your site's performance and load times..
