News box that works in v1.5.1?

Hi,
Take a look at my website, www.scaffoldusa.com
I would like to add a news box under the Manufacturers box on the left side. I have searched for a suitable plugin but haven't found anything so far that supports Zen Cart v1.5.1

A simple, easy updated, news box is all I need.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Have a look in the add-ons area for 'mailchimp'.

Thanks, but there must exist something more streamlined than mailchimp, I only need a news sidebox that I can update via the admin gui.

What are you other fellow Zen Carters using for this purpose?

Sorry I'm confused!
Explain a bit more about what you are trying to do?
Is this like a "newsletter subscribe" box?
or.... a box where you "announce what's news", whats happening with the website?
or is it...???

Just a simple box to present short news on the website, nothing else.

My apologies, I read it as you were wanting a Newsletter sidebox. Ok how about creating an EZ page with your news, then use the Blank Sidebox mod to add a snippet of the news content and link it to you EZ page?

You could also use one of the Banner sideboxes.

Okay? I'm fairly new to Zen Cart, so I'm not really sure how to implement what you have suggested. Where/how would I update it with news etc? Database tables or just plain text?

and this would be what I would do as well.. The banner functions are one of the most USEFUL and under utilized features of Zen Cart..

Suggest you hit the FAQs then and read up on how the banner functions work.. High level, you activate one of the banner sideboxes, configure your banner groups, create a banner, add it to your target banner group and you are done...
