Default GST not Being Removed on Coupons

    Hi All.

I am not quite getting what I am doing wrong....(My settings are as per screen shot)

All normal sales calculate ok with the GST being included in the $ 9.95 post rate.

However if I want to offer a free post discount:

GST Rate = 10%Click image for larger version.

Name:	Tax Rate.JPG
Views:	119
Size:	27.1 KB

    Discount Coupon: Posta Gratis :

    $29.25 Sub-Total:
$9.95 Flat Rate (Best Way): (includes 0.90 cents GST)
    $3.56 GST:
    $29.25 Total:

I see it as when the $ 9.95 is being removed then the GST for the product itself should be changed to $ 2.66

    Thanks for your time
    Renz

Try changing the 'Re-calculate tax' setting.

    Well Humm...

Here is what I have done, changed the setting as per image attached and I believe that's what you suggested.

    My Product is $ 81.00

    Here is my result:

-$10.85 Discount Coupon: Posta Gratis :

    $81.00 Sub-Total:

    $9.95 Flat Rate (Best Way):

$7.37 GST: (this GST appears to be correct on $ 81.00)

    $80.10 Total:

The total is not correct thought as I have discounted more than the $ 9.95

You should only be changing ONE THING AT A TIME.

You have made several changes between the current screenshot and the previous screenshot.

You should also concentrate on one example at a time.

The way you are going about things you are probably just going around and around in circles, which doesn't help you, and it makes it very confusing for us.

    Cheers

    Hi Rod,

yep you are right I should have stuck to one product, unfortunately could not remember what i had in the cart when I took the first screen shot.

As for changing several things: I did as you suggested and changed the "Try changing the 'Re-calculate tax' setting." on setting that I got this warning in red from the zen cart system "Setting Include tax = true, should only happen when recalculate = None" Hence the 2 changes...

    How should I proceed..

I guess my 1st question is why are you giving a $10.85 discount for 'Posta Gratis' when the Posta cost is only $9.95? This alone makes the figures look confusing.

    As for the total cost...
    $81.00 − $10.85 + $9.95 = $80.10 so there is nothing inherently wrong there.

As you have noted, $7.37 is the GST component of the $81.00 product cost.

The discount coupon & postage are GST free. As per the current settings.

The question here is what did you expect (want) the final cost to be?

    Handy tip:
Create a test product for $100.00
Set your shipping cost to $10.00

Use these setting/numbers for all of your testing. The nice round numbers generally make it a breeze to figure out exactly what is going on.

    Cheers
    Rod
