Reformatting product name in product listing

Hello,
Currently, the "product name" field in my product listing display gives the name in a header formatting and a small blurb of the description. I want to remove that header tag from it and also remove the product information. However, I have not been able to decipher the code in the overrides as to how to change this. How would I achieve this?

You can remove the description from the product listing by setting Admin - Configuration - Product Listing - Display Product Description to 0.

I don't understand what you want to do with the product name.

The product name in the listing appears to be encased in <h4> or <h3> tags, I want to remove them on the product listing (but not product info)

You could remove the <h3> tags from itemTitle in includes/modules/product_listing.php and save it to your override folder.

Following the documentation I found on Overrides, I placed a modified version in /includes/modules/CUSTOM/product_listing.php and yet it does not used that modified version. Is that the right path? The permissions and ownership are correct.

That's the correct path. Make sure you aren't looking at admin/includes/modules.

No it's definitely not in the admin folder. Any idea why its not pulling the correct one? I don't see anything in the logs, the file is chown to the proper user and the chmod is 755.

The name of the custom template and the includes/modules/CUSTOM folder are both CUSTOM and not custom ?

Before I admit defeat, have you other overridden files which work ? A link to the site (in this format - yoursiteDOTcom) might let us spot something, too.

Edit: Just thought of something. You have selected your custom template in Admin - Tools - Template Selection, right ? Creating the folders is just the first step.
