Default Moving my site to a new domain

    Hi,

I had before building my zencart site a web shop with EKM on a .co.uk domain. I kept this site running whilst building my zencart site on a .co/ domain

I have now cancelled the subscription with EKM and transferred the .co.uk domain to godaddy who look after all my other domains.

The zencart site has been running for a year now on the .co/ domain but I now want to move it to the .co.uk/ domain as i have better page rank for this and want to keep it.

Is this easy to do i.e. just copy all my files through via FTP or is it a bit more involved?

    Thanks in advance.

Tough question. It is a little unclear whether you are going to change the hosting or the domain name.for the store.

If you are just going to change the hosting (keeping the same domain name for the store) then it is just a matter of copying the entire site (including the Database), making any required changes the two configure files (in particular the DB and FS_ settings) and finally changing the DNS to point to the new host.

If you are going to be changing the domain name for the store you will need to make a lot more changes, especially if you have used 'absolute' links to various pages/images for the store. It is a little less difficult if you've used 'relative' links.

The domain name of your host doesn't factor into it.

    Cheers
