Changing an order through admin

Is it possible to modify an order in admin or how does an order get modified? For instance if they order 4 widgets, 2 black and 2 blue but we are out of blue and get confirmation through email that will take 2 green instead, how do we change it? Is it even possible. I see the problems if payment has been made, but if items are the same cost it's just an invoice printing change. Suppose I can see why it shouldn't be editable though.

Yes possible. There's even a plugin (possibly more than one) that helps with exactly that. You'll never believe what it's called... Edit orders. (Sorry to be facitious, just kinda rolled off. :) )

It's also possible to do so through mysqladmin, although things could go wrong. Better to address through a well designed and supported app, than to willie nillie edit the raw data.

That's definitely a better response. Both more helpful to a "new" zenner and not as cheeky as I was getting last night. Hopefully the original poster (OP) will let us know the status.
