Setting A Default Order Status

I have created a new order status called COMPLETED and would like to set this as default. I have gone into my admin panel and changed it to default under localization but my new orders still show as PENDING, please help

Need to go into your payment module(s) and adjust them to pickup completed. If I remember correctly there is also something about downloads and the applicable order status. I can't remember what, but it had something to do with do this action if greater than that value of order status and less than this value of order status. Just remember what you have done if something comes up that doesn't quite work right.

By setting the default, I think all that did is when a new payment option is activated to use that option as the default setting before the operator makes a change. Not 100% sure.
