Default Don't show subcategories in sideboxes

not sure if this is a setting that needs to be changed or a coding change.

when you click on a category in a sidebox, it expands and shows all subcategories below that category. I don't want it to. i just want it to always show ONLY categories. how do i do this?

i think you missed my point.. this setting appears to be ONLY for the initial load of the screen.. i have it set up to NOT show subcategories and they do not show the first time you come to a screen. but if you click on the category they now expand and DO show the subcategories and i don't want them to.

Did you set that option to 0 and check your site ? On my test site it does exactly what you said you wanted in your original post. See it at stevesh.com/demo

yikes.. i forget that for that site i am using the multi site plugin and had to change that setting in the config_file instead of in my admin section... just changed it to a 0 in my config file and it now works... thanks and sorry for all the trouble.

A similar question....I know how to turn off the sub-categories from showing when one of the main categories is selected. I don't necessarily want them to show under the menu item on the left column but would like for them to show at the top of that particular main category page instead but not sure where to find this at.

Also, where can I change the number of product columns on the individual category pages, right now only one column shows and I'd like to set it to 3 like my home page is.

    Thanks

    1. What's your setting in Admin - Configuration - Product Listing - Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating ?

    2. You'll need to install this: http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=3

Right now it's set to 'On' because not all the main categories are showing the sub-categories on the category page. Some are and some aren't, for example, the menu for Tin Signs does show the sub-categories on the category page when it opens and a couple others do but Animals for another example, do not show the sub-categories.

Thanks for the link to the plug in for the column set up.
