1.3.9 database used with 1.5.1

I now have v1.5.1 set up and would like to now bring back data from 1.3.9 database into it.
I tried re-installing zc_install but it wont work.

You'll need to run your 1.39 db through the ZenCart installer database upgrade first, then you can import it or point the config files at the updated database.

how do I do that? is that the zc_install/index.php?

The zc_install folder needs to be on the server, then navigate to: www.YOUR_SITE/zc_install/

After agreeing to the terms you'll see this at the bottom of the index page:


Then you should see this if it can see the 'old' db:


If I remember correctly I pointed the 'database information' at the old database,
- ran the zc_install,
- exported the results to a .sql file,
- imported the new file into the clean install/db.

That forced an error report to ensure there weren't any mismatched tables or fields.

Just be sure that you have 'working' backups of your old database or make a new one on the server and transfer the old db to it - cPanel or similar server side tool.

I did run the 're-check' database afterwards just to see if there were loose ends. There weren't :)

it goes to a welcome page..then when I hit continue..it goes to a file not found page

When I go to http://www.cindyscinnamon.com/Store/zc_install/, it's clear the zc_install folder is missing files. Once you've uploaded the full file set, try again and see if you get a correctly formatted index page. Once we know the installer is complete and working then we can use it...

Ok i got to the screen and chose db update but the db listed is the new one I created when setting up new install. There is not a list of the old db on this screen. where or what do i do to get the old db?

Open both configure.php files and point them at your old db.

You should see the new db settings here:
admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php
