Server error 500 when trying to move store to localhost

Hi guys,

I was wondering whether someone could help me out with the following problem.

A few weeks ago I installed Zen Cart v151 without too many difficulties on my server (my hosting provider is One.com) and so far everything seems to be in working order. But before I can go live, I need to set up a development version of my site for refactoring and testing purposes. As such, I've attempted to copy my Zen Cart installation from my One.com host to XAMPP (localhost). Unfortunately though, I can't get the localhost (XAMPP) version to work.

I've used the following tutorial to move/copy my Zen Cart installation: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...fferent-server I've followed the tutorial step-by-step, but once all of my old files have been uploaded over the new files on localhost (with the exception of /includes/configure.php and name_of_my_renamed_admin/includes/configure.php) I get an internal server error 500, when I try to visit the site on localhost. I've read this article http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...l-server-error and I've searched the forum, but I'm afraid I'm in over my head.

I've copied the relevant part of my error log below, hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I think the path to localhost might be wrong, but the configuration files seem to be in order. So if anyone could help me out, I'd be much obliged!

1. Your :443 references suggest that you're trying to run SSL on your localhost setup. But if you haven't bought an SSL certificate for your localhost (and it's very rare that you would ever do that), then you'll need to set ENABLE_SSL and ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN to 'false' in your configure.php files.

2. The mentions of .htpasswd suggest that you've added password-protection to some folders using .htaccess rules. You probably copied that down from your server, but since your localhost doesn't know the passwords you're getting errors. On localhost you'll probably want to simply remove the password-protection statements that you've put in your .htaccess files, since you probably don't need that password on your localhost, right?

Thank a million! It was the second issue. I had indeed accidentally copied my .htaccess rules to my localhost! I removed those files, and everything works fine!
