Is there a way of setting text field attribute to count the characters up?

Hi All,

Just wondering if there is a way of making the 'maximum allowed characters' to count up from 0 as the user inputs the text instead of counting down from a set amount.

The reason is we have adjusted our website and want to sell multiple products on one page to make the management of them much easier and less time consuming.

We also engrave most products and since the engraving space and design of certain products is different I need a way of at least letting the customer know where they stand with there text count.

Ideally id just make an Engraving Text attribute that has space for say 500 characters and the customer just types in the text they require, but we need someway to make it so the customer can easily track there character count.....They would currently need to take there text into Word or something similar which very few would bother doing.

If that's your site, there should be a little script that needs the minus changed to a plus.
