red flag My admin link shows a 404 error

We have a store, people can still place orders/check out, however we cannot find ANY way into our admin panel.

We use the www.storename.com/admin like we had in past; but I get a 404 error.

Anyone have ideas where/how I can fix this? I have not been able to get into my store in months, it has just
been kinda "sliding by" but I am desperate to update inventory and put new on!

    Any help? Ideas?

    Thanks!

A 404 is pretty specific. It means that the page requested doesn't exist. I would use your FTP program to see what the actual name of your admin folder is. Unless you're using a very old version of Zencart, it will have to be something other than 'admin'.

I'm sorry, but someone else set the site up.
I have no clue what an FTP program is?

They set it up a few years ago & has been running fine, but for some reason we cannot even find a log in page.

I have GoDaddy for the web hosting and zencart. Thats all I know for now until I can get into something!

No time like the present to learn a little bit about running your store. An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client is a very simple program which allows you to see the folders and files on your local computer and your Zencart server and move files between the two. Many here use Filezilla - I use a Firefox plugin called FireFTP.

Once you've set up the FTP program, you can see all the folders and files in your Zencart installation. There will be one folder which holds all your admin files. If that folder is named 'foobar' then you'll need to navigate to yoursite.com/foobar to access the admin functions (assuming you remember your user name and password).

With a Zencart installation that old, there's a good chance your site has been hacked.

Pardon me, I am just learning.

Does it matter what computer our store was set up with? I'm assuming so since it would have the files correct?
If so, we may be out of luck as the computer that was used has a new hard drive and everything was corrupt/wiped out.

No. All your Zencart files are on GoDaddy's server, and can be copied to your local machine if necessary.

The support folks at GoDaddy can help you:

Ask them to guide you in using your browser to find your files via their site. There will be a file-manager tool connected to your website. They can help you find the files that run your website.
Ask them to help you specifically navigate to the folder that contains the index.php file that runs your store.

Once there, you're probably done with needing them, so as long as you know how to get to that spot again by yourself, you can let them off the phone.

Once you're looking at the folder where your main index.php file is (it's the same folder where you'll see ipn_main_handler.php and nddbc.html files as well), then you'll see several folders:

/admin/ (apparently this was renamed, so let's use a process of elimination to find out the new name)
    /cache/
    /download/
    /editors/
    /email/
    /images/
    /includes/
    /media/
    /pub/

    You might also see these:
    /docs/
    /logs/
    /extras/

What other foldernames do you see there?

Thank you all! Go daddy did it for me! For some reason my admin name was changed to: [[redacted]]

So now I have my login page; but I have idea what my username is! I can resend the password; but I have tried every username known to myself/husband/business!

ugh! One huge hurdle down; one left to go!

Now that you've made the folder name public, you really should change it ASAP for security reasons. Let's hope a mod comes along and removes that from your post.

Then, you get to learn about phpMyAdmin to do your password reset:

Don't let this stuff intimidate you.
