Can't login as Admin or recover forgotten password

I can't login to the Admin section with my admin name. It doesn't give me an error message, just re-displays the login screen.

The same thing happens when I request a password resend (and no email is received)

I have followed the instructions here: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?44 to create a new Admin login but that doesn't login either.

I've contacted my web hosting service to see if they can shed any light. I have not logged into Zen Cart Admin for over a year and in the meantime Hostgator have migrated my site to a new server and the SSL certificate expired and a new one installed so possibly either of those two actions have screwed something up.

While I'm waiting for Hostgator to respond, just thought I would ask here and see if anyone else has any ideas I could try.

When there's no error message, it means the problem isn't necessarily related to the password, but is instead a result of a session or cookie or PHP configuration problem. And that *could* be related to SSL issues, or might not.

I saw something in the second link that you posted and decided to try changing the following line in my configuration.php from false to true.

define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true');

That seems to have worked and I was able to login.

Not sure why this has changed but it has been a LONG time since I did anything with this site.

Anyway, thanks for the help. Please let me know if changing that setting to true has any security concerns

Well I'm in but still having problems. It's not letting me update my catalogue.

If I try to change an existing entry it gives no error but does not update

If I try to add new product, during the preview stage it shows zero cost, no picture and zero quantity. It's as if it's not reading anything from the input text boxes.

Then if I select Insert, it displays: ERROR: The data you submitted was found to be empty. YOUR CHANGES HAVE *NOT* BEEN SAVED. You may have a problem with your browser or your internet connection.

PS tried in Firefox, Chrome and IE11. As far as I can tell, cookies are enabled
