    Default mixed sql collation

While working out a kink in a previous topic here , in post #27 i(we) discovered that my sql db has a mixture of latin1 and utf8 collation.

    A few questions:

    • What are the consequences?
    • Can it be fixed? If so what are the steps?

Always backup your database before installing any modules or doing anything to your database.

This PHP script can be used to convert your MySQL database tables from latin1-to-UTF8 while retaining the integrity of all internal multibyte characters.

Well that worked remarkably well. Thank you!

So I ran the script on my dev site and everything *appears* okay. What would be the true proverbial acid test to know for certain nothing is broken?

Go over all your site checking the links, looking at your product descriptions making sure you don't see any funny looking characters anywhere on your site.

    So far, I've found this:

    Zones Name:
    K?rnten (KN)

    Country: Austria

In the backend. However, in checking my live site I can confirm that this existed prior to the conversion. No oddities yet in the storefront.
