Header and Footer 100% Widened left to Right, Body Fixed

I know this has been discussed on here to death, but no one has been successful at it so far, at least from I've seen.

I basically want to stretch the header 100% left to right but the center columns remain at a fixed width. I tried making body 100% and centerColumn have auto margins. No luck.

Basically, I want this:

Very simple CSS, at least if your template is based on the default Classic or a similar layout. Seeing your site live will let us advise correctly.

In general, you would want to set in your stylesheet

#mainWrapper {width: 100%;}
#contentMainWrapper {width: 1000px; margin: auto;}

The header and footer will automatically expand to the full width of #mainWrapper, unless your custom template sets them otherwise.
