Missing sideboxes

I have checked all the tutorials and FAQs but it does not address my issue.

I have missing sideboxes - I uploaded a template, reset the layout box controller, defined what I wanted as sideboxes, and I cannot get the following sideboxes: shopping cart, manufacturer, special, featured, what's new to show up on any page.

I have pretty much found answers to most of my questions, but not this one.

Which sidebox (left or right) have you set these for? If it's the right sidebox, check your /logs folder; there might be some myDEBUG*.log files there.

Some sideboxes don't appear unless there's content for them, including the ones you mentioned.

The last DEBUG was a syntax error on this line, line 16 of english.php - define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright &copy; ' . date('Y') . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT) . '" target="_blank">' . STORE_NAME . '</a>. Powered by <a href="http://www.zen-cart.com" target="_blank">Zen Cart</a>');

However, I corrected, reloaded, and still not sideboxes. Someone else suggested that they do not show up unless there is data. I entered two manufacturers and still no sideboxes.

Did you associate products with those manufacturers ?

In your admin -> configuration -> layout settings - Do you have specials, featured products, and what's new turned set for 'true'?
Everything else is there :)
