    Default Re: problem with upgrade from v151 to v153 - help please

    No, I did tell you yesterday that I'd gotten into phpMyAdmin, and gotten stopped because it wouldn't accept the password. It was a step I tried early in the afternoon, then reported it late last night when you got snarky about my refusing to look at the 'I Lost It' page...which I had not refused to look at, and had tried several times to follow.

    For the rest: I just don't know. I can't run anything in phpMyAdmin, because I can't get it to accept a password, so I can't run the code you keep mentioning. Nor can I see what prefix might exist, or how many tables I have in the database. It has me totally locked out because it won't accept the cPanel's un/pw.

    And the Install Sql Patches page within Zencart says not to upgrade the database from there, so I haven't done anything on that page, for fear of screwing something up even worse. Is that where you want me to run the code you listed above? Or should I be running it in phpMyAdmin?

    If you're able to login to your ZC admin, run the above SQL in the install sql patches of the ZC admin. It is not an install script. It will create a new user with the username Admin and password admin. *Do not test logging in with it yet* proceed with the zc_install process by having the zc 1.5.3 version of the admin directory that is named/renamed admin and ensuring that the admin/includes/configure.php file either autogenerates the path to the admin directory(default method of ZC 1.5.x) or that specifically has the path to the site and the directory admin.

    The issue with not being able to access myphpadmin can be resolved through your host.

    Still no joy. I entered:

    DELETE FROM admin WHERE admin_name = 'Admin'; INSERT INTO admin (admin_name, admin_email, admin_pass, admin_level) VALUES ('Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1);

    into the Install SQL Patches window...and got the following error:

    WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.

    So,if during the time that you had zc_install in place aand the admin directory wasn't named admin, then shouldn't have been able to even get so far with the zc_install procedure and no wonder there was difficulty...
    For simply using zc_install to do the database-upgrade, the name of the admin folder is irrelevant, as it never needs the admin folder during just a db upgrade.

    The specific error generated is in either the cache or logs directory off of the site as a myDEBUG prefixed file. Please post that result. Right now there are too many variables to identify what is going on/status of this upgrade. Also, while at it, please visit the version area of your admin panel and post what ZC reports for the database and software versions. This is typically listed just before allof the server setting tables.

    DK_Skully,
    What is your PHP version? If it's lower than PHP 5.3.8, do you have the option to switch it to something newer for this site?

    No, if you look at your prior post, you're really using PHP 5.2.17.
    Do you have the ability to switch it to 5.4.32 for this site?

    Huh, makes sense. Database information is retrievable by accessing the parallel includes folder and it's configure.php. Good thought ZC team. I've just been doing the extra step unnecessarily then, which also provides a customer distraction that I have averted by briefly placing the store in scheduled maintenance mode.
