Default What type of cookies are used in Zen Cart

I have been using my site for a while with no EU cookie warnings or notifications. As I understand it Zen Cart does not use anything other than essential session cookies that allow a user to use the shopping cart and other necessary functions of the website. If it only uses these types of cookies there is no requirement for any notification according to the ICO. I have no mods that add to the types of cookies that are used on the site.

All I need to know is whether Zen Cart uses only essential session cookies or are there other types of cookies that are used as standard.

Choc chip. ZenCart used lots and lots of Choc Chip cookies.... I find these essential cookies for any coding session, along with coffee.

    :) :)

How about a serious answer to a serious question regarding a serious issue? I thought this was supposed to be about helping and being a community. So far I have found it to be unwillingness to help and flippancy.

If there is anyone who is prepared to give a serious response I would be happy to hear it.

I went through this 2yrs ago, just when all the cookie warning add-ons were coming out. To be honest I hated them and I hate sites that present a pop-up asking me to accept the cookies.

It is not a requirement now to have to ask your visitor to accept. The rules changed.... all to do with 'implied' & 'none-implied'

All I have on my site is a small banner under the footer of the page simply saying "We use cookies to improve your experience - read about it here" which links to the privacy page where they can read about our cookies.

AND... I don't think we need to display that anymore. But I'm in the UK

Hi Rizla. Thanks for a serious answer. I am in the UK as well. Session cookies that are necessary for cart use and signing into an account do not require a notification according to the ICO. If a website uses cookies other than the necessary session cookies then there must be a notification. The ICO do not state where on the home/landing page this is supposed to go. Personally, like you, I hate constantly being faced with cookie notifiactions on just about every website that I go to. I don't want it for my website but I also don't want a potential £500,000 fine. I just need to know whether the standard website uses anything other than essential cookies for account and cart purposes.

A vanilla Zen Cart uses cookies for the purpose of shopping and account functions only, however addons can add additional tracking aspects that you should familiarize yourself with.

Thank you Melanie. I will be looking at any addons that I might include with the site.
