I paid a web designer to build my sites and now he has blocked them??

I paid a web designer to build two sites for me and now he has blocked both of my sites, I do not have the admin pass codes so I know that is a major issue, so I guess I will have to have the sites rebuilt and if I do what is the best way I can protect my self from this taking place again. The reason he did this is all personal he and I became very close friends he is a young man in 30's and I in my 70's I was very good to this young man really to much to write about our friendship for over two years, but I will say I took my car back from him using it just about everyday and this is the big reason he cut my sites off. The sites were set up with zin cart and I felt good about using zin cart, so now I need someone new to build my sites, so anyone that knows how to use zin building sites please contact me, I might try and build it but I am just to old and I am not a computer person I am a product guy. Or I will just for get about messing with them.

It's pretty bad to pay web people to build sites and then they can control a persons life with a button to turn them off after you pay for the service.

You should always have control of your own web hosting account. This will go a long way to protect you from this sort of thing. Then if you have a falling out with your programmer, you can reset your password and lock them out of your account so that they can not do any damage.

Definitely call hostgator. My site is with them. I have had nothing but good experiences with their tech support. I can try to help you out getting your site back on if you need it. I live in tampa bay.

Definitely contact them and explain in detail what has happened. They should have a backup dating prior to you being locked out of your own house.

From reading the original post, it is my understanding that the lock out has occurred at the point of being able to login to the admin side of the store, if that is the case there is a FAQ regarding resetting the user password to login again. This would prevent losing data associated with anything that has happened since being locked out. Then remove the rights for the other individual, if not completely clear all of those that had access, rename the admin folder to something new and obscure, then add back the individual(s) that can be/are trusted to continue supporting the active store.

If the lock out was in fact of anything being able to do anything with the store (host password and other changes) then yes unfortunately would need to go back to the last "available" time. (Assuming this hasn't yet been resolved.)

Yeah.. but IMHO screw spending ANY time messing around re-securing the Zen Cart admin until he RE-SECURES access to his hosting account... Any damage done from the Zen Cart admin can be UNDONE from backups once he re-secures access to his hosting account.
