Default Tried everything - Configure.php will not let me change/edit.

I tried Filezilla, right clicked on configure.php file to set permissions - it wont let me.
I tried to overwrite the file (from the correctly edited one on my pc) - I get 550 access denied.
I tried using the java FTP client that my hosting company provides, and neither of the 2 steps above work either.

I changed permissions from my hosting company to write, read, and inherit and all combinations of those 3, and I can't edit the file. Nor can I DELETE the file.

Is there any way to just edit the darn thing? I read many many FAQ's on this and even installed flashfxp as suggested, didn't work.
I also tried changing the FTP to SFTP, that didn't work either.

I have to change the admin folder name on lines 42, 44, and 61

    So frustrating.

Does the host offer a file manager instead? Not a FTP, but something more "direct"? (Or is this what was meant by changing the permissions from the hosting company?) What about the includes folder, has it been modified as well to prevent access? Are you able to edit/modify/get further with adjacent files? (Don't need to make a change to the content, just verify that can access more than above.)

In my early work with ZC, I accidentally once set the folder permissions to a level that actually only the host was able to change for me... It was a bone head mistake, but they were able to quickly repair the permissions and set things back on course to allow me to manipulate them.

Some Windows servers are wonky about permissions, which is why many here, including me, don't recommend them. Can you change the permissions using your hosting account's control panel's file manager?

Curious, what about the post identified that the server was potentially windows based?

Possibly that the thread was started under "Installing on a Windows Server." I know.... Sometimes it's a leap of faith.

Thanks for the help. I was on the phone 2 different times with my hosts' tech support and a total of about 3 hours. Tech support had to call some other tech support. Finally, a file was made for me, from their end, they put it in the same folder as my configure file. (Some kind of permissions file, I guess) When I went to edit my config file, it worked.

I think it would be safe to say that your host company should know a little something about zen cart, because for my case, there was NO self fix. But I'm thankful that they fixed my issue.

Now though unfortunately the file must be made read only again.

There is a thread here which describes how to make and run what is probably the same file your host used, but I can't find it.
