So the problem is this... We have created a coupon code for free shipping for a specific time period. Orders within the period that are using the code are still being charged the full amount on their credit card.
for example. the order is for 1 item at 18.00 + 8.00 shipping = 26.00 - 8.00 (free shipping coupon code) = 18.00
Credit card charge....26.00
Why is this happening?

What are your settings for Modules->Order Total? Specifically, is your Coupon sort order higher than that for your Shipping?

Thank you for that information!! That appears to have been the problem, coupon code was higher than the shipping.
It should be working fine now.

Well I guess I spoke too soon. We thought it was fixed, but it is still doing the same thing. Any other ideas?

How about posting your settings for Modules->Order Totals?
