Restrict Digital Downloads [Support Thread]

I currently have my site configured to NOT send me emails when new orders come in. Do I have to change this in any way to receive an email when a digital download is purchased by an EU customer? How do I know to send out the file?

Also, what do I put under the "e-mail me" option in attributes?

I suppose that you'll need to set your site to send you an email when a new order arrives. You'll know to send the file because the option selected is "email me".

What I've done on each of my sites that provides digital downloads is to create an Option (using Catalog->Option Names Manager) named "Delivery Method" and then values (using Catalog->Option Values Manager) named (at a minimum) I'll download it and E-mail it to me (e.g. http://vinosdefrutastropicales.com/i...products_id=46). The I'll download it option is assigned your download file via the Attributes Controller.

Hmm, okay. At the moment it only sends a new email when there's a physical order (for actual books, not ebooks) because I was tired of getting a ton of emails for free downloads. But if it can't be helped, I guess I'll have to change that.

Thanks again for all your help! Now to try to implement it and see if I can get it to work ... I'm using one of Picaflor Azul's templates and I noticed earlier in the thread this may pose a problem.

Actually, what I'm going to do is assign a weight to the "email me" option. I already have a code in place that emails me an order if the product has a weight assigned to it (like a physical book) so I know to process the order manually. This way I will only receive copies of the emails which include ebooks I have to mail out to EU customers. I see I can add a weight in the attributes section, so I'll play around with that.

DrByte helped me with it a while back. Basically it determines if the product is virtual or physical and sends out an admin email only if the product is physical. I don't know if it'll work with this plugin or not yet by adding a weight in attributes, but I'll let you know!

I'm going to need some help troubleshooting.

IP address 178.198.122.180 was able to place an order today that contained a digital download file (pdf) without selecting the EU: alternate deliver method attribute.

Order included digital download file and physical goods to be shipped.
Order paid using PayPal
Waiting on reply from customer to questions regarding whether the yellow, nag alerts were present.
The download file is available for automatic download in the customer's account.

I am away from my main computer that allows access to logs or other files for the next 4-5 hours.

FWIW, that IP address is assigned to Switzerland (not a member of the EU), verified via whois.com and ip2nation.com.

Okay, HELP! I installed the plugin following the instructions and clicked the Admin HOME link, and the page went blank! I don't know what happened.
