Default Google says: content too wide, links too close

Google summarily informed me today that my site is not mobile friendly. I've overcome many of their objections, mainly the viewport meta tag, but I'm still not ok with them.

    Their remaining objections are:

    Content wider than screen
    Links too close together
So, are those template issues? I'm not sure how to go at those remaining two problems.

    Thank you.

They may be correct. Since you did not post a link to your site, try viewing it at http://quirktools.com/screenfly. Take advantage of seeing it in all venues.

Well, I'm happy to provide a link, and the tool you provided does confirm the problem:

    About viewing it at http://quirktools.com/screenfly

I tried this with my web site.

When I chose the Galaxy S4 view it looks terrible; I just see about a third of my start page.

However when I look at it with my own Galaxy S4 I see the whole page; a bit squashed together but useable

    My website is www.simmar.ch/catalog

    Comments welcomed :)

    I tried adding "<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">" to my HTML_header.php file.
This did not change the appearance when checking with http://quirktools.com/screenfly but it sort of jumbled up the appearance on my real Galaxy S4 mobile

You might consider installing one of Picaflor Azul's responsive templates, which are mobile-friendly.

Yes, I am looking at Picaflor Azul's responsive templates but not sure if I like the resulting layout
When I look at amazon or ebay with my mobile then they have horizontal scrolling so who are Google to tell me it is not good, I do not assume Google will give the major players lower priority of display?
