    Default Right Back to Basics

You have installed Zencart to your web space and you have it all working. Looks good but not just right. You have a rummage through the templates that have been made by the very kind people who also use zencart.

    You find one; upload it
Tools/Template Selection and select that template
Tools/Layout Box Controller and configure the look of the template
All Is looking good in the garden (& the website)

My question; what is done when you select the template you want so that the correct template is used by the fantastic programming that is known as zencart?

The currently-active template's directory (64 characters, max) is stored in the template_select table of your database. That value is then used as a "key" to look up the sidebox-related configuration you've set from the layout_boxes table.

And next steps are that you will wish to create a directory with the template directory name in any directory which also contains a "classic" directory, to prepare to override files in that directory (such as language files, for example).

An article which explains the initial steps you took is here: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?180
